The 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 Mercedes M157 engine was produced from 2010 to 2019 and was installed on top AMG models.
This engine is a modernized descendant of the naturally aspirated M156, with two turbines, direct thrust fuel and huge potential for tuning. However, even in the “standard” version, the engine requires qualified maintenance, and with active use – regular maintenance.

4. Piezo injectors (high injection pressure)
Problem: ¦The injectors are sensitive to fuel and have a limited service life. Contamination or microcracks can cause misfires.

5. Turbine problems
Problem: Garrett MGT turbines can fail due to overheating or oil starvation.
Symptoms: whistling, smoke, power failures.
