Mercedes M274 engines (1.6–2.0 l): current turbocharged units for C-, E-, GLC-class

Mercedes M274 petrol 4-cylinder engines have been produced since 2011 for models with later engine developments – especially the C-Class, E-Class, GLC, GLE.

These motors are analogues of the M270, which were installed transversely. It is based on an aluminum block with cast iron liners, an IHI turbine, direct injection and phase regulators at the inlet and outlet.

M274 engines appeared to replace the naturally aspirated M271 and became the basis for hybrids (300e, 350e). Since 2018, the M264 series has been gradually introduced.

1. Worn the timing belt and phase regulators
