How the cooling system works

The coolant hoses form a closed circuit with the antifreeze reservoir, radiator, and other components of the cooling system. This system transports coolant from the engine and radiator to the rest of the vehicle.

In addition, the hoses become porous over time and can crack, which will also cause coolant leakage.

Flushing the cooling system

If the cooling system is not working properly due to a clogged pipe or hose, it is necessary to flush it. For this, appropriate chemicals are used, if this procedure does not give results, it is necessary to disassemble the entire cooling system and clean each element separately.

However, remember that this work should always be carried out by professionals in a garage. Improper cleaning and flushing can have serious consequences for the cooling system and, therefore, for the entire vehicle.

You can buy a cooling system hose at a stationary auto parts store, online or directly at the workshop. When ordering, pay attention to whether the cable material is reinforced with metal or glass fiber. These hoses are stronger and retain their shape longer, which reduces the risk of breakage.

When should you replace the coolant hose?

Never wait until the last minute to replace the antifreeze supply hoses. It is very important to monitor the operation of your car and detect any problems as soon as possible. If the on-board computer shows malfunctions in the car’s engine cooling system, check its individual components at a service center: you may need to replace the coolant. There are many reasons why a car’s coolant hose can fail. Most often, this is simply because it is already worn out, which is why it breaks or loosens on its own while driving. To avoid problems with fluid leakage, you should carry out routine inspections, during which specialists can replace the coolant hose before it becomes too brittle.

If the cooling system hose bursts, you can wrap it tightly with special tape for sealing rubber hoses until the car is taken to the workshop. You can buy it at some gas stations. It is best to replace worn hoses and pipes in a garage, because only in this way you can guarantee yourself high-quality work, after which you will be able to drive your car without fear.
